You actually don’t even have to introduce yourself if you don’t want to, i don’t need an a/s/l, we don’t have to do the “hey whats up” “not much you?” thing, you can just say “so at school yesterday this idiot said…” in my ask box and I will gladly converse with you. Like seriously I will just talk to you like we’re best friends.

Shinpachi is an amazing character, and is one I greatly admire. His strength lies in his mind rather than in his physical ability. By mind, I don’t mean how smart he may be, but rather his ability to overcome his insecurities. In this sense, he’s a very relatable character. He’s a teenager who’s been relying on his sister after losing his parents at a young age. He’s been called a “loser otaku” on multiple occasions, and he doesn’t have any redeeming qualities, so to speak, besides his track record of Otsuu-chan concerts. He’s incredibly average and he’s not the best fighter.
He’s constantly surrounded by many amazing people and, because of that, he’s incredibly insecure. Although he admires every single one of his friends, he acknowledges that he may never be able to be as strong as them. Whenever there’s a fight he, in my opinion, has one of the hardest roles: watching. Although he has a decent fighting ability, he’s leagues away from Gintoki, Kagura, and even his sister. So, more often than not, he’s given the jobs in serious arcs that don’t require much fighting. There are, however, several occasions where he’s forced to the frontlines. Those are where Shinpachi defines himself.

The Hajime arc, for example, highlights how much he’s truly grown throughout the series. With Gintoki barely able to stand, he chose to step in front of him and fight Hajime, despite the immense amount of pain he knew it would cause him. By making this choice, I believe that he truly transformed. Although he had done similar things throughout the series, this was, without a doubt, the hardest thing that he’s ever had to do. He had to kill his own “brother.” And, even though he knew that both he and everyone else knew that Hajime was immensely stronger, he trusted himself. In turn, everyone else trusted him. Because everyone knew that Shinpachi wasn’t the timid teenager that he was when the series began.  He was secure in what he knew he had to do and was brave enough to conquer his insecurities. Shinpachi became someone that everyone could place their trust in.
